What a fabulous year this has been!  From Preschool to Religious School to Road to Confirmation, we were full of spirit, activity and vitality!

I am especially proud of some of the new programs instituted this year as well as the continued development of some of our popular programs.  In Preschool, our teachers held onto “work” from the children so that we could see the

emotional, physical and academic development (including pre-reading and pre-writing skills) of our students. We added three new Family Education programs in the Religious School this year. Our Third grade, led by the creative and capable Linda Greenhill, started a scrapbook project which will continue to be added to through Confirmation.  Our Sixth Grade class, led by Stefanie Tessler and Lori Dreffin held two Family Education programs, one facilitated by Caroline Figiel about family stories. At the second, the students created their own tallitot.  We have an especially creative sixth grade class this year and some of the designs took away my breath!  Our Ninth grade Road to Confirmation students have continued to decorate the ceiling upstairs in the Education building with their Jewish themed designs painted on the ceiling tiles.  I invite you to come take a look. I think next year, we may actually begin putting some of them in classrooms! The Confirmation Class set the bar a little higher for creative services.

Our programs are only as good as the teachers who prepare them.  We have an absolutely incredible staff!  Each one gives his or her best to help your children connect to Judaism in a manner which keeps them coming back for more. Todah Rabah and Kol HaKavod!  I am proud to say we have very little turnover from year to year!  However, we bid a fond farewell to Stefanie Tessler, who stepped into the role of 6th grade Judaics teacher this year.  Her energy and easy smile will be missed by our students, parents and staff!  Please join me as we wish a hearty Mazel Tov to Stefanie as she finishes her degree in education and (hopefully) finds a position as a music teacher.

Registration materials for the 2010-2011 school year will be available online in early June.  Please send your registration in early so that we can plan accordingly.  Please tell your friends about the Kehillah and our wonderful Religious School.  We have plenty of room for more families to participate in our wonderful community!

One last reminder for our students as well as parents – STUDY your Hebrew over the summer!  Come to services, it’s an easy way to practice the prayers.  Say a blessing when you see amazing things.  Remember to thank God for all the blessings in your life. Even though God hears all prayers from a sincere heart, practice saying it in Hebrew!

Have a great summer!

B’Shalom,

Catherine Rosing
